Greenbizz.energy, a local Renewable Energy Community (REC) led by WeSmart and Greenbizz.brussels and co-constructed with BBRI, citydev.brussels and Sibelga will be managed by WeSmart, the Belgian leader in energy communities.
This energy community brings together 20 participants. These latter gathered around 943 solar panels – producing 203 MWh per year – to collectively maximise the self-consumption of the energy produced locally in Laeken.
Such a project in an economic activity zone is the first of its kind and constitutes an innovative showcase for the Brussels Region. It will ultimately strengthen participants’ commitment to energy transition and sustainable development. In this sense, WeSmart plays the role of a community manager and raises the awareness of participants about their energy impact. The derogation granted by BRUGEL now allows WeSmart to invoice local energy. This invoicing is done via the WeSmart platform, which also allows the locally produced energy to be distributed as well as the production and consumption to be monitored .
Greenbizz.energy’s participants will receive the full benefits offered by local green energy produced in short circuits: namely, economic, social and environmental benefits. Greenbizz.energy will not only allow participants to see their energy bills drop significantly, better federate local actors and create links between them, but will also prevent the emission of several tons of CO2 each year.
Which further developments for the project? In the coming months, the Greenbizz.energy project aims to expand geographically and include citizens and schools from the surrounding neighborhoods. The proximity of an economic activity zone and residential neighborhoods opens up interesting prospects for achieving a mix of complementary energy profiles and thus optimizing the use of local energy.
Greenbizz.energy, une Communauté d’Énergie Renouvelable (CER) locale portée par WeSmart et Greenbizz.brussels et co-construite avec CSTC, citydev.brussels et Sibelga sera gérée par WeSmart, le leader belge des communautés d’énergie.
Cette communauté d’énergie rassemble 20 participants. Ces derniers se sont réunis autour de 943 panneaux solaires produisant 203 MWh par an pour maximiser collectivement l’autoconsommation de l’énergie produite localement à Laeken.
Un tel projet dans une zone d’activité économique est une première et constitue une vitrine innovante pour la Région bruxelloise. A terme, il permettra de renforcer l’engagement énergétique et climatique des participants. En ce sens, WeSmart joue le rôle de gestionnaire de la communauté et sensibilise les participants quant à leur impact énergétique. La dérogation octroyée par BRUGEL permet désormais à WeSmart de facturer l’énergie locale. Cette facturation se fait par le biais de la plateforme WeSmart qui permet en outre de répartir l’énergie produite localement ainsi que de monitorer la production et la consommation des participants.
Greenbizz.energy permettra aux participants de la Communauté de bénéficier de tous les avantages d’une énergie verte produite localement en circuit court : à savoir, des bénéfices économiques, sociaux et environnementaux. Chaque année, Greenbizz.energy permettra non seulement aux participants de voir leur facture énergétique baisser sensiblement, de mieux fédérer les acteurs locaux et de créer des liens entre eux mais empêchera aussi annuellement l’émission de plusieurs tonnes de CO2.
Quelles évolutions pour le projet ? Dans les mois à venir, le projet Greenbizz.energy ambitionne d’être étendu géographiquement et d’inclure les citoyens et écoles des quartiers avoisinants. La proximité d’une zone d’activité économique avec des quartiers résidentiels ouvre des perspectives intéressantes pour réaliser un mix de profils énergétiques complémentaires et donc optimiser l’utilisation de l’énergie locale.
