The Belgian Pilot: A Showcase of WeSmart Expertise

Green Energy Park in Zellik: A Living Laboratory

For WeSmart, the Green Energy Park pilot site in Zellik represented an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of our Energy Management System (EMS) platform. Located in an industrial zone with over 70 companies, this energy park aimed to create a CO2-neutral, self-sufficient multi-energy network.

Our collaboration with VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and their energy storage battery simulator enabled the development of an innovative LECO (Local Energy Community Optimization) module. This intelligent battery control module, integrated into the WeSmart digital platform, achieved remarkable results in flexibility management.

Intelligent Management and Flexibility Valorization

The intelligent management system developed by WeSmart optimized real-time battery storage usage, creating a new value source:

• Flexibility valorization: Batteries are intelligently controlled to store energy during solar production peaks and release it during high-demand periods
• Grid flexibility services: Our algorithm responds to electrical grid needs by dynamically adjusting battery charging and discharging
• Economic optimization: Intelligent management maximizes revenue by arbitrating between self-consumption, storage, and energy sales based on market prices
• Real-time balancing: The platform ensures permanent balancing between production, consumption, and storage

The implementation of our intelligent management solution radically transformed the site's energy efficiency:

• Increased self-consumption from 60% to over 99%
