WeSmart and its energy community Greenbizz.energy won the 2020 Becircular call for projects in the category New Business Models for the Circular Economy.
This year, no less than 96 projects were submitted by members of the Brussels economic fabric during the BeCircular call for projects ! The organizers have never seen such a craze before ! 38 projects were selected and a total subsidy of 2,897 million euros was granted.
Our project was selected in the category New Business Models for the Circular Economy. WeSmart, thus reinforces its regional presence and receives a key support in the realisation of its project developed in partnership with Greenbizz, Citydev, CSTC and thanks to the facilitation of Sibelga.
The project in question concerns the creation of a Citizen Energy Community (CEC) named Greenbizz.energy, in Laeken, around the Greenbizz economic activity zone. In the current development phase, 40 companies and 20 workshops gathered around 943 solar panels producing 203 MWh per year to collectively maximize the self-consumption of the locally produced energy. The Greenbizz.energy project also aims to expand geographically and include 400 homes and 2 schools in the surrounding neighborhoods. The proximity of an economic activity zone and residential neighborhoods opens up interesting prospects for achieving a mix of complementary energy profiles and thus optimizing the use of local energy.
Such a project constitutes an innovative showcase for the Brussels Region and will ultimately strengthen the energy and climate commitment of the participants. In this sense, WeSmart plays the role of a community manager and raises the awareness of the participants about their energy impact. In order to facilitate the management of the community, WeSmart gives them access to its digital platform allowing a monitoring of their production and consumption as well as a local energy billing. It also offers complementary services to achieve optimal use of the locally produced energy.
Greenbizz.energy’s participants will receive the full benefits offered by local green energy produced in short circuit: namely, economic, social and environmental benefits. Greenbizz.energy will not only allow participants to see their energy bills drop significantly, better federate local actors and create links between them, but will also prevent the emission of 1.98 tons of CO² each year.

Le projet de communauté d’énergie Greenbizz.energy a été pour sa part sélectionné dans la catégorie Nouveaux modèles économiques de l’économie circulaire. WeSmart renforce ainsi son ancrage régional et reçoit un soutien clé dans la réalisation de son projet développé en partenariat avec Greenbizz, Citydev, CSTC et grâce à la facilitation de Sibelga.
Le projet en question concerne la création d’une Communauté d’Énergie Citoyenne (CEC) nommée Greenbizz.energy, à Laeken, autour de la zone d’activité économique Greenbizz. Dans la phase actuelle de développement du projet, 40 entreprises et 20 ateliers se sont rassemblés autour de 943 panneaux solaires produisant 203 MWh / an pour maximiser collectivement l’autoconsommation de l’énergie produite localement. Le projet Greenbizz.energy ambitionne également d’être étendu géographiquement et d’inclure 400 logements et 2 écoles des quartiers avoisinants. La proximité d’une zone d’activité économique avec des quartiers résidentiels ouvre donc des perspectives intéressantes pour réaliser un mix de profils énergétiques complémentaires et donc optimiser l’utilisation de l’énergie locale.
Un tel projet constitue une vitrine innovante pour la Région Bruxelloise et permettra à terme de renforcer l’engagement énergétique et climatique des participants. En ce sens, WeSmart joue un rôle de gestionnaire de la communauté et sensibilise les participants quant à leur impact énergétique. Pour faciliter la gestion de la communauté, Il leur donne notamment accès à sa plateforme digitale permettant un monitoring de la production et de leur consommation ainsi qu’une facturation de l’énergie locale. Il offre également des services complémentaires pour atteindre une utilisation optimale de l’énergie produite localement.
Greenbizz.energy permettra aux participants de la Communauté de bénéficier de tous les avantages d’une énergie verte produite localement en circuit court: à savoir, des bénéfices économiques, sociaux et environnementaux. En un an de fonctionnement, Greenbizz.energy permettra non seulement aux participants de voir leur facture énergétique baisser sensiblement, de mieux fédérer les acteurs locaux et de créer des liens entre eux mais empêchera aussi l’émission de 1.98 tonne de CO².
